About the Exhibition
Prior to the pandemic, Mongolia welcomed an average of half a million tourists annually. In 2022, a total of 290,414 foreign tourists visited, generating revenue of 350 million USD, or 1.2 trillion MNT, as reported by the Ministry of Tourism. Currently, Mongolia has received 600,000 tourists, contributing approximately 3.4 billion MNT in revenue.
Globally, 900 million individuals traveled abroad, marking a twofold increase from 2021 and a 63% rise compared to pre-COVID years. The UNWTO has indicated that tourism in Europe and the Middle East rebounded to 80-83% of pre-COVID levels last year, a trend directly linked to the surge in international air travel, increased demand for regional flights, and the significant easing of COVID restrictions.
With a history of 32 years, the Mongolian Tourism Association has actively initiated and organized numerous initiatives aimed at fostering common goals and values, as well as enhancing collaboration between the government and the private sector. Among these efforts is the unified assembly of the Mongolian tourism sector, the promotion of travel products and services, and the comprehensive exhibition known as ITMongolia 2024.
This year, for the 25th edition, the event will take place in Ulaanbaatar, aligning with global tourism trends under the theme National Culture, Tourism - Technological Development. The initiative aims to support entrepreneurial activities, promote contemporary development policies, and further expand collaborative efforts for mutual benefit.
Focusing on tourism and hospitality services grounded in the principles of sustainable development, the event will ensure the involvement of local communities and citizens, stimulate economic growth, and create a lasting legacy for future generations. The tourism sector will convene under one roof to advance this noble cause.
The exhibition serves as a platform for connecting entrepreneurs, facilitating the discovery of new business partners, negotiating contracts, and promoting and selling products. The ITM International Travel Mart exhibition features coordinated participation from all 21 provinces, with over 200 businesses and organizations.
During the four-day event, an average of over 4,000 visitors and professionals attend. This year, preparations are underway for participation from all 21 provinces, with more than 150 businesses expected to take part. Additionally, the ITM 2024 exhibition will include various free meetings, training sessions, and discussions aimed at tourism and hospitality entrepreneurs.
This year, tourism business representatives from Turkey and China are confirmed to participate, and travel companies from Japan, Germany, Hungary, and South Korea have expressed interest in attending. We are pleased to announce that Zavkhan Province has been designated as the partner province for 2024.
